About me
Welcome to my blog, The Tempest Examiner. Thank you for being here.
Perhaps strangely for an "about me" page, I will refrain from telling you
too much about myself. These days people online don't listen to
arguments anymore, as much as from whom they come. By not telling you
who I am, I am hoping to avoid being told I'm not allowed to talk about
something.
"You have no right to talk about our gun problem, this is an American
issue!"
"Of course you'd disagree with Sigmund Freud, you're a woman."
"Men shouldn't say anything about woman's rights."
"Well of course you're anti-Brexit, you live in France!"
By using the veil of anonymity, I hope to prevent these kinds of ad
hominems. That isn't to say there is no merit in any kind of these
contentions; it's easy to talk about issues that you'll never face the
consequences of, but I feel these days people mostly revert to such
arguments when their own fall apart.
However, this is not a "who am I" page, and I can still tell you "about"
myself. I started this blog because I can't stop following politics and public
discourse. I also can't stand it anymore. Like so many people, I want to
voice my grievances. However, I don't feel comfortable doing that on
social media. I have a strong preference to think, and calmly write down
whatever is on my mind. (I also don't like to be yelled at, but that's beside
the point)
two more little facts about me: I have autism. It often causes me to see
things from a different perspective. One that you may or may not find
interesting. And secondly: I am not a writer by trade, this is my first time
writing even semi-professionally. I am a big fan of language, however. And
completely addicted to syllables. It may take me a couple... Posts?...
Articles? to find my style. Or my "groove," I suppose.
Finally, in the spirit of honesty: this blog is a selfish one. I made this so I
could put my thoughts on the web somewhere. Nothing noble about it.
This is me trying to feel as though I'm not just screaming into the void.
And if you're reading this, I'm not, so thank you.
That doesn't mean this blog isn't for you, though. If you get anything out
of this, be it enjoyment, peace of mind, a good argument, perspective,
information, or some food for thought, I welcome you to stay as long as
you'd like.
